Ward’s work is the amalgamation of their experiences. From a young age, they took a strong interest in art. Born to a mother who believed in the power and beauty art holds, they were exposed to art for as long as they can remember. Their mother went out of her way to fill their life with art any way she could. Growing up, Ward mostly worked with dry mediums, like pencil, and only made art as a hobbyist. In 2017, they began painting and have not looked back since. Art in all forms, from movies to paintings, poetry and the like, have inspired their craft. Their work uses themes of identity and spirituality through a more whimsical lens. Ward seeks to create art that is not only autobiographical, but also is relatable to other people struggling with their identity. Especially since 2021, they have explored themes relating to their identity and their perception of themselves, both through their own eyes and how they feel they are seen in the eyes of others. Influenced by magical realism, much of their art creates a sort of dream-like reality. They have attended CSUF since 2019 and intend to graduate this year with a BFA.
