Larry Parkhurst

 
 

Larry is a life-long Pacific Northwest resident and currently resides in Gig Harbor with his wife Mikki, also an artist. Larry worked as an illustrator for the Federal Government for over 30 years. During his employment, he won the Thomas Jefferson Award (for excellence in illustration) 5 times. He is a 1972 Burnley Art School graduate (later known as the Art Institute of Seattle, now defunct).

Larry primarily works in colored pencil and is most focused on still lifes, with occasional forays into floral and landscape pieces. Over the years, Larry’s work has had the good fortune of receiving many awards including best in shows, purchase awards, first, second an third place awards, and has twice placed in the International Artist magazine competition. Most recently, he was honored to receive the Derwent award for Outstanding Achievement at the 2023 Colored Pencil Society of America’s International Competition.
