Malika Baeza (Marissa Tyler) was born in Denver, Colorado in 1999. Her work revolves around her large Mexican family and the traditions and stories that have been passed down. Her primary materials she uses are resin, polymer clay, ceramics and yarn. She started her artistic practice in high school and pursued a BFA at the University of Alabama and an MFA at California College of the Arts. She loves maximalism and wants her work to be as colorful as possible while still keeping her family traditions alive.
