Deep Sea was inspired by the Pacific Ocean that connects the places that I can call home. Every time I visit the local beaches, I think of my family and friends back in Japan. I have expressed a mix of nostalgia and warmth, intertwined with the eternal waves of the ocean.
I was born and raised at the foot of Mt. Fuji, where my grandparents ran a lodging house for mountain climbers as a family of shrine priests. Growing up right next to my grandparents' house, I spent most of my days with them, and I have many fond childhood memories that I draw upon as inspiration for my work. As a curious child, I would often daydream and imagine different scenarios, and I try to capture that same sense of wonder and imagination in my art. In addition to my childhood memories, I also incorporate the natural beauty I've encountered on my travels and in my dreams into my work.
