Michael Maiellano

I was born in rural Western New York State and began to draw at a very early age. I have long been inspired and compelled by what feels mysterious and powerful in life.  Art and visual metaphor are ways to express a quality of being that these mysteries engage in me. Through my work, at its simplest, I'm trying to make the most beautiful images I can, which often includes some amount of darkness, eroticism, and gravity. But in its complexity, I am conveying thoughts, feelings, and emotions that I'm not even fully aware of. I aim to be creating work that explores this vision for myself, while warmly welcoming any viewers to look deeper and take in some visual nourishment. I hope at its simplest, the imagery is just nice to get swept up in, and in its richness, conveys some of Me and who I am in the world.
