“Even the simplest of machines have a beauty that is taken for granted. In this piece ‘Vending Machine,’ I invite the view to interact and ponder its workings, existence and application. In turn seeing a reflection of them selves and realize we are also some kind of machine. And now then, what is our purpose?”
Michael Viveros has deep roots in the automotive industry. A mechanic by trade and a shop owner. He has wrestled with and learned to appreciate machines and their mechanical workings. His works are heavily influenced by this.
“Working with these cars through the years, I see so many beautiful mechanical things nobody will have the opportunity to appreciate. The beauty of mechanical design and engineering and use of materials buried deep inside something. You know somebody or a team of somebody’s put blood sweat and tears into designing and thinking about it, to make it physically work and come alive! Yet no one will appreciate it the way I do. I think my art is a toast to those people.”
