Nancy Honaker has always had a passion for music and art and graduated with a degree in Fine Art from Bowling Green State University in Ohio with an emphasis on painting and specializing in Graphic Design. But Hollywood was calling her name and upon graduation, she moved to CA and began working in the film business. After nearly three decades in Southern CA, life altering events prompted a move back to Ohio to be closer to family. It was then that she rediscovered her artistic roots. She and her sister started a mixed media business and began selling their wares at art shows and craft fairs. Mixed media was fun, but her true passion was creating realistic works of art. She began drawing pen and ink pet portraits, but then happened upon an online colored pencil contest. She entered, received an Honorable Mention and was completely hooked!
She has worked in many different mediums through the years, but Colored Pencil is where her passion lies. She strives for realism in her work and her subjects are diverse, but she particularly loves focusing on the details in everyday subjects and capturing that perfect “moment in time” and having them come to life on her paper. Still lifes and drawing reflections holds a particular appeal as in her drawing “The Fruits of My Labor”.
Nancy’s work has been published in many International magazines, accepted into gallery shows, and she is a proud member of the Colored Pencil Society of America, International Guild of Realism, and Allied Artists of America.
