Nancy Suffolk Guerine

Ms. Guerine was born in Detroit, Michigan. She became a fourth generation artist. Nancy attended The Center for Creative Studies College of Art and Design in Detroit for two and one half years.

Classes were also taken at the Philadelphia College of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago. She has an AA from the Colleg of DuPage in Glen Ellen, Illinois and a BFA in Art Education from the University of Illinois. Nancy Taught art in Chicago and several surrounding suburbs for fifteen years. The artist has taken graduate courses in Outdoor Education from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois.

Nancy Suffolk Guerine is a Signature Member and a Five Year Merit Award recipient of the Colored Pencil Society of America and a contemporary painter. In addition, as a realist, she holds a certificate in Botanical Art and Illustration from the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois. She has also completed two Naturalist certificates, one in “Natural Areas” and the other in “Interpretive Track”.

Nancy’s experience is quite varied. She worked many years in newspaper and food advertising. This included layout to management in Detroit, Livonia, and Flint, MI, and the Chicago area. Her professional experience also includes working as a sugar artist in Detroit, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Atlanta.

Over twenty years were spent with the Creative Services Dept. of Wilton Industries as a cake decorator for their numerous publication, and also as an instructor at the Wilton School. Ms. Guerine has traveled and exhibited nationally with her sugar creations, colored pencil art, botanical illustrations, and contemporary mixed media paintings, and won multiple awards for artistic endeavors in all categories.
