Olivia Mae is a 24 year old multidisciplinary artist based out of Santa Monica, CA. Her work deals with themes of aesthetic value, femininity, and consumption. With a background in fine arts and a professional career in marketing, along with a deep love for all things camp, Olivia’s works serve as a meditation on what it is to create at the intersection of fine art and commerce. Her methodology, while based in traditional atelier training, also utilizes materials more typically associated with craft, such as rhinestones, candy wrappers and insulation foam. The results are works that recontextualize her historical influences through the lens of modern day consumption, while subverting the aesthetic hierarchy those influences are rooted in. Olivia graduated from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts in the spring of 2021 with a B.F.A. in Studio Arts. She is the recipient of both the Dana Pond, and the Will and Elena Barnette awards for excellence in painting.
