First-generation Indian immigrant artist Prithvi Chauhan presents ten total pieces of acrylic on canvas in two separate series of five paintings each. While each of the two series has its own distinctive style and theme, all pieces explore the beauty and complexity of navigating the human experience.
The first series of five minimal pastel colored paintings is titled “Mind Travel.” The minimal elements in light pastel colors are set to trigger nostalgic memories and feelings unique to each individual viewer. The artist invites each viewer to journey as far back in memory as possible to first recollections encountering the elements presented in each painting. Spontaneous memories trigger neural links in the mind to even experience smells and emotions from specific places which exist only in one’s head and heart. The ability to travel in time through memory to such places in our imagination suggests the abstract mind to be as vast as the physical world itself.
The second series of five surrealist paintings is titled “Questions.” Each painting is uniquely inspired by some of life’s unanswerable questions about love, heartbreak, morality, and society. The artist hopes to spark dialogue, both internally and in-conversation, about these very real emotions and experiences which have no concrete guidelines to navigate through in life.
