Suzanne Thomas

Suzanne’s career was in home health nursing and raising a family. Living in the midwest, Kansas, Texas and now Michigan, has exposed her to much rural beauty. Her home is decorated with rocks, wood and a variety of found treasures. Her friends are an equally eclectic mix, bringing much variety into her world.

Suzanne’s heart has always desired to draw and create. However, as much as art was put on the back burner, creativity was yet ever present throughout her life. Creativity took the forms of gardening/landscape design, interior design, sewing, upholstery, pottery, and other adventures. After taking a two year community course of graphite drawing, color called.

Color pencils, with their ability to layer, and a great teacher to point the way, was a natural next step. Color pencil, and pencil in general, has the control she enjoys. It has been fun, frustrating and fulfilling using colored pencils to capture a unique view, a moment in time, or a precious memory.

Suzanne’s subjects trend toward the organic and textural shown in a different perspective or with a humorous twist. She wants her art to invoke curiosity and hopefully cause a smile. May her pieces lighten your load and bring joy to you.
