Fresh {AIR}: An Artist in Residence Program

Join us as the Brea Gallery kicks off our first ever Artist in Residence series during the Made in California Exhibition. During two consecutive weekends in June, we will present two very talented artists and their work. In this informal residency, these artists will simply exist in our space and make work. Visit the Gallery to see their process, pick their brains, and get a first-hand creative experience.

On June 3rd & 4th we are very proud to present Brian Johnson, a multi-media artist who has shown in several of the Brea Gallery’s exhibitions in the past. Known for his fluid, seemingly effortless wall-sized drawings, Brian is a master of transforming a blank wall into a mythical, mesmerizing landscape. Using unconventional techniques and materials, he is able to achieve beautiful detail and impeccable perspective in an astoundingly short amount of time. Come by to meet Brian, discuss his experiences as an artist, and be jealous of just how easy he makes it look!

On June 10th & 11th, we couldn’t be happier to have Debbie Carlson back here with us. Debbie, whose work is currently on display in the Made in California Exhibition, has also shown at the Brea Gallery on quite a few occasions. Debbie, an installation artist, is a creator of unique spaces. Using found objects, borrowed materials, and timeless techniques, she transforms rooms into tactile environments. Come visit with her, hear all about her passion for her work, and witness the fascinating process of shibori.

Can’t make it in person? Track the progress of their residency on our social media!
