ICYMI: MFA Biennial
Sadly, our first exhibit of 2018 has already closed! Where did the time go?? The 4th MFA Biennial was a contemporary exhibition featuring bodies of artwork from a selection of Masters of Fine Arts students. The collection of works on display included painting, installation, photography, drawing, and sculpture - all which illustrated the broad range of artwork being made by these dedicated students of the arts. The universities represented included: California State Universities Fullerton, Long Beach, and Northridge, as well as Claremont Graduate University and Otis College of Art and Design.
The MFA Biennial closed on March 25, 2018.
Starting on February 10th, there was a huge turnout for the opening reception, with live music by The Captain's Son - there was food, and wine and beer available. Many of the artists and their families were in attendance and it was exciting to see them to meet and appreciate each other's work.
Exhibiting Artists: Yara Almouradi, Caesar Alzate Jr., Madeline Arnault, Aurora Berger, Chelsea Boxwell, Mimi Haddon, Sara Hassan Khani, Chloe Jeongmyo Kim, Megan Kinney, Huicho Le, Siwei Liu, Sadaf Manoushan, Katie Marshall, Beatriz Mora Hussar, Michelle Nunes, Jesse Parrott, Rebecca Rich, Chris Rioux, Michael Roman, Ashley Shumaker, Amy Williams
Fresh{AIR} our artist in residence program featured two artists who graciously donated their time to create while engaging with Gallery visitors. Megan Kinney (mixed media paintings) and Beatriz Mora-Hussar (jewelry) created new new works over the two days they were set up in the Gallery. Megan painted a large-scale piece with two smaller pieces and Beatriz wire crocheted individual elements to be added to her hammered necklace. It was great to see visitors be so excited about watching and asking really interesting questions.
Here are a few shots of the exhibit in the Gallery.
It was such an honor to host these artists and their groundbreaking work. Thank you all for making it such a success! Best of luck MFAs!
