Wellness Wednesday - House Plant Therapy

On Wellness Wednesday, we’ll be exploring the use of art and design that can be incorporated into daily life to help with mental well-being.

When it comes to sprucing up your house and health; choosing a little green roommate will definitely encourage you. It’s not just about improving your indoor aesthetic, even if you don’t normally notice a plant’s presence; seeing a plant can subconsciously make you feel calm and relaxed.

Having a piece of Mother Nature to look at on our desk could regenerate our attention, and motivate us to keep going.   If we cannot get away from stress, then we must learn how to manage stress in a way that reduces the negative.

The world is full of natural healing that can significantly decrease anxiety and even mild depression. Plus, you simply can’t go wrong with the natural elements of the earth in terms of natural anxiety treatment.

Additionally, gardening and caring for a plant is a relaxed and rhythmic activity that causes many people to lose themselves in the enjoyment of it. Working in nature releases happy hormones and can help you feel more present, instead of stuck in your head. Some other benefits of caring for a plant include improved self-esteem, along with feelings of nurturing and responsibility for a living thing. Gardening also fosters a feeling of connection to the earth and the world around you. Lacking this connection is a big reason that many people experience feelings of depression today.

Take a little time out of your day to go pick out a house plant that you feel a connection with. It is time to put yourself first, and take another step in reducing stress in your space and daily routine!
