Thinking About Submitting Your Art?

Every year the Brea Gallery hosts a juried show featuring artwork from artists all over the Golden State. Made in California is now in it’s 35th year and continues to grow each iteration. We are so grateful for 34 years of meeting, supporting and featuring great artists in all stages of their careers.

We reached out to a few of these artists to in an effort to get their feedback on their experience of applying and showing at the Brea Gallery. We hope that these testimonials give artists and idea about submitting to a gallery or exhibition they may not have a reference for.

"Being a new resident of Los Angeles, I was unfamiliar and uncertain about submitting to Brea Gallery because of the distance, but I was pleasantly surprised by the professionalism and friendliness of everyone involved and greatly impressed by the gallery exhibition conditions (its contemporary design, clean walls, museum quality lighting). Everything from start to finish of Made In California was a great experience, including the layout of the show, catalog production, and reception with charming music and food."

“For the past four years I had the honor to be a part of the Made in California Exhibition. I find the entire process, from submitting work online; notifications about selection; artwork intake; to the opening night; professional and very well organized. The online entry process makes it very convenient to submit work. Instructions accompany the online form to answer any questions. Throughout the process the gallery staff are helpful, supportive, and professional. Deadlines are held to and announcements are on time. Art intake is smooth with a number of staff and volunteers to assist you.

The juror process is very fair and well-curated with a selection of artistic styles and media types representing contemporary art in California. The gallery itself is a wonderful space, well very-lighted and the work is carefully curated and displayed. The gallery has a large glass front facade allowing visitors to see the work when the gallery is closed. The opening is a wonderful catered event is always very well attended. The gallery utilizes the surrounding outdoor space with live music inviting more people to the opening night.”

“I continue to see vast improvement in the arrangement of the gallery for exhibits. It is a wonderful space and is readily adaptable to fit any type of exhibit. The staff is friendly and goes out of their way to connect with the individual artists. The gallery is centrally located from the Inland Empire, Orange County and Los Angeles county, so it attracts a large viewing audience.”

"I was so impressed with every part of the MICA experience at Brea Gallery. The space is beautiful and spacious, the staff are professional and sensitive to the professionalism of the show. The curation was also very high quality. I have definitely had great exposure thanks to my experience there, including two shows by other curators who visited the space."

“In this day and age of posting one’s artwork on social media, it is seen as being the norm. There is quite an authentic feeling when an artist gets the opportunity to showcase their work in a gallery, one that should not be missed. Not only is it a gratifying experience, but you never know what new doors might open up if you don’t try.”
