Welcome - The New Team with a Dream
Today, we are officially welcoming the two new additions to the Brea Gallery team! We are so excited for everyone to meet them and see what they create, elevate and build in their time here with us.
Meet Kennelyn
Hi everyone, my name is Kennelyn Deloach and I am the new Gallery Coordinator at the Brea Gallery. I grew up in Anaheim, CA and received my Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in Art History at California State University Fullerton. It’s hard to contain my excitement starting this new journey with the Brea Gallery! The art world can be a treacherous place, but working under Director and Curator Heather Bowling, and Event Manager Katie Chidester, I already feel at home.
My goal is to bring in some fresh perspectives and artists from a plethora of backgrounds. I want every visitor that walks through our doors to see a bit of themselves, and their experiences, represented. Emily and I have been bursting with ideas since first stepping foot in the gallery, and I’m confident that we’ll uphold Brea Gallery’s amazing catalog while adding our own little flavor. I’m so happy to have a team that is collaborative and enthusiastic, dedicated to lifting up local artists and supporting the community. I can’t wait to help Brea Gallery reach its full potential!
In my spare time, though I have so little of it, I enjoy being a couch potato with my cat Beetle. If you catch me at home, I’m probably sketching, practicing the ukulele, or absorbing unhealthy amounts of popular media. I’m the kind of person to always have music on, my go-to being a “chaotic shuffle” of pop, indie, rock, and a blend of all three. When I’m on the go, I love traveling, camping, and live music. My motto is “work hard, play hard!” If you run into me at the gallery, tell me about the art you can’t stand or who was your favorite live performance you’ve seen recently! I’d love to hear it!
Meet Emily
Hello everyone! My name is Emily Jara, and I am the Lead Gallery Assistant at the Brea Gallery. I am originally from Fontana, CA and have been in Orange County for a whole year now! I went to school up north to receive my Bachelor’s degree at Chico State in Art Education and Studio Arts. I focused on printmaking and photography, and continue to work on my art now underneath my other creative ventures.
As an artist and educator, I’m looking forward to working with new, emerging artists and creating opportunities with Kennelyn to make art projects for all ages! We have so many ideas and concepts to introduce to the Brea community, and it’s been so fun spilling out our creative plans so far. It feels almost magnetic how well our brains work together (haha), and being mentored by Heather and Katie makes me feel confident we will be successful in what we plan to accomplish.
Alongside the arts, I also enjoy making music playlists, coffee and movie reviews. My favorite color (in all of existence) is green, and I love eating breakfast no matter what time in the day (it’s the best I swear). If you ever run into me, please tell me about your favorite medium of art and what you enjoy doing the most in your day! You will typically see me and Kennelyn around the gallery working on our silly social media concepts, but we are super friendly and open to what YOU have to say to us!!
