Join instructor Judy Schroeder as she teaches students to explore the possibilities of ink and watercolor. This class will guide students through the process of experimenting with both water soluble and permanent inks to enhance their watercolor paintings. Students will learn various sketching techniques and value studies to enrich their compositions and create a unique “flow”. Students are asked to bring 1-3 references from which to work of something they are familiar with and enjoy.
Supply List
Judy will have a variety of materials available to try during the class, she recommends buying a good variety of pens to experiment with, but you are not required to have all the pens recommended in this list.
Paper – 8.5x11 or 9x12 pads or sheets of water media or watercolor paper and a board to support your paper, as well as a sketchbook for notes and planning.
Paint- watercolor in any variety of colors that you enjoy using
Brushes – bring your favorites
Ink pens - Include both water soluble and permanent pens. Gel and rollerball pens, dip pens, bamboo pens, and fountain pens are also recommended in addition to any other pens you might find interesting to experiment with. Judy recommends the Pentel Color Brush, a brush tip pen with water soluble ink, Tombow pens (water soluble), and Pitt pens (permanent) in natural colors or black.
Other – Pencil, Eraser, Water container, Kleenex or paper towels, and Sponges
